Colourful streets and a forecast with opinions.
St. John’s gives you a colourful first impression and then asks whether you brought a decent coat.
Its harbour setting, downtown houses and nearby Signal Hill make the city memorable, while The Rooms and Quidi Vidi add other directions for an outing. The hills and weather are part of that setting, and worth testing rather than merely admiring from a photograph. Retirement here can appeal to someone who wants a place with a strong local character or is keeping Newfoundland family connections close. Explore the city through the daily routine you would choose: a home you enjoy, workable trips, indoor interests and outdoor days that suit both your mobility and the forecast.
Signal Hill gives the city a grand viewpoint, The Rooms brings art and history indoors, and Quidi Vidi adds another distinctive setting to explore. Choose walking routes for your ability and the conditions. There is plenty to put on the visiting-friends list, with the harbour supplying an outing of its own. Tiffany Village and Kenny’s Pond also offer shared spaces and activities for days when the forecast has successfully argued for staying close to home.
