More than a place to visit
Collingwood invites you to look out over Georgian Bay and then invent a reason to linger.
Sunset Point is a good place to begin. Trails and the nearby Blue Mountain area broaden the outdoor possibilities, giving a research trip several appealing directions. For retirement, though, the town itself needs to work as a home: a place where errands, interests and meeting people fit comfortably into the week. The bay is a persuasive introduction, and the mountains nearby add another layer, but the address you choose will decide how often you use either. Give yourself time to compare the waterside outing with the everyday surroundings of a prospective residence.
Sunset Point gives the bay a starring role in an everyday outing. Ontario Trails describes its route as relatively level, making it worth assessing for your own walks. Nearby Blue Mountain adds a different set of possibilities to explore. You can enjoy the wider landscape while building a modest local circuit around town, and a favourite viewpoint has the useful habit of changing its appearance while staying reliably where you left it.
