Let the river organise the afternoon.
The South Saskatchewan River gives Saskatoon a very persuasive reason to leave the house.
You can choose a section of the Meewasin trail system, go for a walk and return with the feeling that the afternoon has been well spent. The river setting also helps give this prairie city its visual identity, with bridges and riverside buildings supplying plenty to look at. For retirement, the appeal is having that outdoor interest alongside a substantial city’s services and neighbourhood choices. Investigate the area you would live in with the same attention you give the waterfront. A regular route, a place to meet people and an activity you would keep attending are the ingredients that turn the view into a life.
A Meewasin walk and a visit to Remai Modern make a very good two-part afternoon: fresh air, then something to think about over coffee. The art museum sits beside the river, so the combination makes geographic sense too. Choose a trail section for your ability and the season. Luther Riverside Terrace’s location beside Gabriel Dumont Park suggests another local walking routine, with dining and programming back at the residence.

Luther Riverside Terrace brings independent retirement apartments to a South Saskatchewan River setting beside Gabriel Dumont Park. The operator advertises one-bedroom, one-bedroom-plus-den and two-bedroom layouts, along with dining, transportation and programming. There is also an attached intermediate-care home, which should be discussed as a separate service. Start with the apartment package, then ask what additional help can be arranged if your routine changes.
